Raw Shea Butter

Shea butter comes from a tree that grows only in Africa called the Shea-Karite tree which produces a green fruit. Inside the fruits are nuts which are used to make raw shea butter. The nuts are harvested, crushed and boiled to extract the butter from it. Raw shea butter is also known as unrefined, where no additives or chemicals are added. This product’s name comes from the process that they go through when it is processed. When it is processed, they are extracted using water, enabling all the vitamins and nutrients to remain intact. Other types are extracted using other additives, making it not very pure. The problem with these types is that it does not contain as much benefits as the raw or unrefined ones because the benefits are lost through the extraction process.

Raw shea butter contains high levels of vitamins and fatty acids which are very beneficial. It naturally contains vitamins A, E and F. Vitamins A and E can help soothe and hydrate the skin because it can neutralize the skin. Vitamin F can help rejuvenate the skin and promote cell growth, leaving you with younger looking skin. The fatty acids help retain the moisture which helps the skin to feel more nourished and feel softer, making it an excellent moisturizer

Because of this property, many people are starting to use it on their skin and hair as a nourishing ingredient. Because of its moisturizing property, it can help with dry skin as it can moisturize the skin. People with dry or damaged hair will also benefit from its use as the root of the hair will absorb the nutrients from the shea butter. The fatty acids will help protect the skin and hair by creating a protective layer to protect it from the impurities in the air. The best thing about raw or unrefined ones is that it is easily absorbed into the skin, allowing you to enjoy the benefits right away.

There are a few ways in which you can use it. You can either buy it raw or buy products which contain the ingredient such as body soaps, lotions, shampoos and conditioners. Some of them are also proven to be quite effective when used correctly. This makes it easier for you to enjoy the benefits without getting your hands messy.

As it is unprocessed with no added preservatives, special care must be taken to store it. You can either store it in a resealable plastic container or glass jars. Handpack it into the containers instead of heating it up and pouring it in as heating will destroy some of the vitamins. For extra protection, use plastic wrap to wrap it. Under normal conditions, your butter can last up to 2 years. Do not store it close to a heat source as it will cause the product to get spoilt. The best place to store your raw shea butter is on a shelf where it is cool and dry.
